Supporting Women Workers Affected by Dithwa Floods – Gampaha District.
Dabindu Collective, with the support of Women and Media Collective (WMC) , has extended urgent relief to women workers affected by the recent Dithwa floods in Gampaha District ( Katunayake and Biyagama)
We distributed aid across 8 key categories, focusing on basic needs, livelihood support, and dignity:
● Dry rations – 91 families received essential food supplies
● Kitchen support – utensils and equipment provided to 20 families (Rs. 10,000 each)
● Livelihood support – clothing materials for 10 families (Rs. 10,000 each)
● Boarding Home repairs – paint, brushes, and materials to repair boarding homes/rooms
● Education support – school stationery for 9 children (Rs. 5,000 each)
● Dignity packs – 20 women workers received sanitary pads, underwear, soap, toothbrushes, and combs (Rs. 5,000 each)
● Medical aid – assistance for 15 workers suffering from illnesses like cancer, heart issues, hip pain, etc. (Rs. 20,000 each)
● Bedding & hygiene supplies – for 14 families, including bed nets, towels, bedsheets, pillow covers, and disinfectants (Rs. 5,000 each)
Through this relief effort, we aim to restore not only basic necessities but also dignity, health, and hope for women workers and their families.
We extend our sincere and heartfelt thanks to WMC for their invaluable support and commitment to uplifting women workers during this difficult time.
