International Workers Day 2025 Kilinochchi

We celebrated International Labour Day with the 200+ workers from Kilinochchi, workers who produce garments for the United States, to reiterate protections against the threat of tariffs and instability in the global garment industry. Workers from Vavuniya, Katunayake, and Biyagama, as well as local CSOs in Kilinochchi, joined our Workers’ Day Rally held at the Kilinochchi Cooperative Hall.

This International Worker’s Day, we recognise the importance of women’s labour, which extends the limits of formal workplaces, factories, plantations, farmlands and seas. As we celebrate International Labour Day, we celebrate the multifaceted nature of women’s labour, persisting day and night, running our economies as we know them.
