Garment Workers’ Situation Report – April – June 2026

The Dabindu Collective’s third quarterly Garment Workers’ Situation Report documents the lived experiences of women garment workers from Katunayake, Biyagama, Kilinochchi, and Vavuniya from April to June 2026. Based on discussions with over 2,000 women workers, individual case handling, and field observations, the report highlights the challenges workers continue to face in relation to labour rights, occupational safety and health, climate impacts, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and gender-based violence. While Sri Lanka’s economy has shown signs of stabilization, the report reveals that women garment workers continue to experience increasing economic hardship, insecure employment, and inadequate workplace protections

This report was produced under Pathways to Peace, funded by the Government of Canada and implemented by Alinea International, which aims to strengthen peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka among and within religious, ethnic, and linguistic communities, particularly for women and girls.
